COMPETITOR LEVELS
Competing can be a scary thought.
At The Pup Cup, we’re doing our best to break down that scary wall for our groomers.
At the event, it’s not all about winning ribbons and prizes. It’s about growth and connecting with other groomer’s, dog show exhibitors and stall holders to expand everyone's network, knowledge and putting a face to a name.
Our judges are approachable and offer critiques for our groomers to learn from.
Novice:
This level if for competitors who have 2 years and under experience in grooming or showing.
Novice competitors will not be up against the Open or Master level competitors and will feature their own Novice Best in Show Lineup.
Novice competitors that place first in their section, will need to present their dog's for the Novice Best in Show line up at the conclusion of the event.
*If novice competitors have previously placed (3rd, 2nd or 1st) in the Novice level at another competition, they are not required to move up to Open or Master at The Pup Cup.
If they have won a Group award for that class e.g Purebred Scissor Class, then they are required to compete at Open Level for that class. The entrant may compete at novice level for another class e.g Poodle.
Open:
This level is for competitors that:
Have been grooming or exhibiting entered breed for over two years.
Have not previously placed first in Open or Master level at another grooming competition of this selected class against three or more competitors.
*if the competitor won a group award e.g Poodle whilst competing in the Open level at previous competition, they are to compete in the Master level for that class. Entrants may compete in either Master or Open level to suit their experience in that particular class as techniques and experience differ vastly from hand stripping to scissoring.
Master:
This level is for competitors who have previously placed first in this selected class in Open level against three or more competitors.
Competitors may select to move up on their own accord.
We pride ourselves in a fair competition.
If competitors teach, exhibit or groom to a high level of compenticy, they are to compete in Master level.
If a grievance occurs at time of pre judging, the judge(s) will move the contestant to chosen class based on their discretion.
